Plein Air Paintings from the anchorages of the Pacific Northwest

IMG_2619.jpeg

I spend my summers exploring the anchorages of British Columbia’s west coast with my partner in our small sailboat. My Plein Air paintings allow me to sit with the peace and solitude of my environment and study the light and weather as it moves through the anchorage. I have sailed the B.C. coast from Vancouver to Prince Rupert, circumnavigated Vancouver Island, and crossed the Hecate strait to Haida Gwaii. I think I'm extremely fortunate to be able to explore the world this way, and I enjoy sharing my experience with others through my tiny paintings.

Below is a gallery of many of the anchorages I have had the pleasure of painting from the bow or cockpit of my boat. Some of these paintings have been recreated again in my studio, which I can do for you. I prefer to work small.
